XY keeps primary navigation in the sidebar. There is no classic top navigation bar.

You can add a custom menu above the page when you need extra links. Your dashboard, catalog, and courses keep the same sidebar layout.

I released XY in 2025. It shares its page and menu builders with Space and Alpha.

Sidebar first. Optional top menu.

Primary navigation stays in the sidebar. The top bar stays empty unless you add a custom menu.

Rosea plugins included with XY

Regular, Commercial, and Extended licenses purchased directly from RoseaThemes include three additional blocks styled to fit XY.

These plugins are included with Regular, Commercial, and Extended licenses, but not Solo. They are supplied with purchases made through Lemon Squeezy or directly by invoice from RoseaThemes. MoodleMarket packages contain the XY theme only.

Rosea Dashboard Stats block preview in XY Moodle theme

Rosea Buttons block preview in XY Moodle theme

Rosea Buttons

Add reusable button and call-to-action blocks without writing custom HTML for each page.

Other Rosea plugins

I also build smaller Moodle plugins for problems that sit outside the theme itself: custom pages, consent, alerts, search, and reporting.

  • Custom Alerts

Publish site-wide or course-specific announcements without editing the theme.

  • Rosea Global Search

Search courses, activities, and site content directly from the header.

  • Rosea User Stats

Show learners their progress and learning statistics inside the profile area.

Space and Alpha

XY, Space, and Alpha share the same builders. Choose XY for sidebar navigation and an optional custom menu above.

WCAG

XY includes skip links, keyboard controls, focus styles, and ARIA in the templates it changes. Moodle, plugins, course content, and custom colors need separate testing.

  • Meet WCAG

Keyboard paths, semantics, and structure tested in theme-owned Moodle surfaces.

  • AA contrast

Typography, controls, and UI spacing aimed at common AA contrast targets.

  • AAA-ready paths

Skip links, focus rings, and high-contrast flows where XY controls the markup.

  • WCAG 2.1

Theme improvements align with WCAG 2.1 success criteria on overridden templates.
